Your Ceilidh , Your way with Dancing Feet Ceilidh Band

We are a professional, multi-instrumentalist duo, Kate and Roddy, based in Angus, Scotland. We use live looping technology to create a dynamic, full-band sound with just two musicians.

Between the two of us, we play a diverse range of instruments to create our unique sound, including:

• Fiddle

• Guitar

• Flute

• Saxophone

• Border Pipes

• Electronic Cajon (a box drum)

• Vocals

Live looping is a technique we use to record and layer our instruments in real-time. This allows us to build a rich, full sound that can easily fill any room, giving you the energy and feel of a much larger band.

This is all done live, using loop pedals controlled by our feet, including the boss RC600.

Yes we do. We have lots of songs in our repertoire for when people need a break from the dancing - we are folk musicians, so our repertoire is primarily folk and traditional songs, with a bit of country thrown in, all done in the inimitable Dancing Feet style.

Our music is a lively mix of traditional Scottish, Irish, and European tunes, with a strong rhythm section behind it, incorporating stykles from around the world! We are professional folk musicians, so traditional music is at the heart of what we play, albeit with a modern twist!

Here’s how we do it: Kate calls the dancers onto the floor and gets everyone organized while Roddy builds up the loops, creating energy and excitement before the dance begins. After walking through the steps, Roddy kicks off the music with his loops while Kate calls the dance. Once everyone’s got the hang of it, Kate joins in playing too!

We’re both full time professional folk musicians so we play what we play best and we don't do covers as a rule! However, we do have a large repertoire of folk/traditional/country songs, played in our own way, which we can incorporate into the set.
